Partner & Managing Director
In 1989 Welcome Home Moving & Settling-In Services was founded by Lisa McLaughlin, who brought her daughter-in-law, Maria McLaughlin, into the business in 2007. After years of nurturing the company together, Lisa has eased into semi-retirement, turning over the management of the family business to Maria.
Although Welcome Home originally focused on down-sizing seniors and became the Cincinnati area’s premier Senior Move Manager, under Maria’s leadership the company has continued to flourish, and has expanded into a service for clients of all ages and moves of all sizes.
Maria’s background and experience is a perfect fit for Welcome Home. While in college she was an in-home caregiver for a client with Alzheimer’s disease. She partnered with the patient’s daughter to help the transition to an assisted living facility when this client was no longer able to stay at home.
Prior to joining Welcome Home, Maria had seven years of experience in the marketing industry, where she had been working since graduating from Ohio University. She immediately took on a wide scope of responsibility at Welcome Home, managing the staff and taking a very involved role in communicating with the clients as well as the facilities into which they were moving. Maria naturally excelled at bridging any gaps in communication, and in her role as move manager made each move smooth and comfortable for all involved.
Over the years Maria has expanded Welcome Home’s services beyond assisting clients who are downsizing for retirement or transitioning to an assisted living facility. Now Welcome Home serves many clients who are single, as well as young families who are moving into a new home. In the Cincinnati area, Welcome Home has indeed become the move manager of choice for anyone faced with a move of any size.
Under the leadership of Maria McLaughlin, the Welcome Home team continues its 27 year legacy of providing the most personalized, and highest quality transition services in the Cincinnati area.
“Moving is stressful for just about everyone! As the mother of two school-aged children, I know how hard it can be to juggle the demands of everyday living, even in an ideal situation. Transition times heighten the normal disruptions and add a number of new ones. All too often members of a family in the process of moving find that there aren’t enough hours in the day to accomplish all that they need to. I love helping alleviate that overload for our clients.
Our executive clients simply don’t have the time to manage their own moves. Our family clients are juggling diaper bags and hockey bags, and not only appreciate our help with the physical move, but love our support in settling the family into their new space. And the heart and soul of Welcome Home remains in supporting new retirees in their well-deserved “new lease on life”, and in the cautious and loving care that goes into a move for our oldest clients, from home to a supported facility.”
